World No. 1 Iga Swiatek comes from behind to defeat Jule Niemeier, advancing to US Open quarterfinals, then falling to No. 5 Hsieh Yu.

A pair of US Open quarterfinal wins put Iga on a collision course with No. 5 Hsieh Yu and Niemeier. A 6-0, 7-6(3) win over Jule in the first set and an 8-5, 6-4 win over Jule in the second set gave Iga a place in the quarterfinals.

But Iga fell just short of a second consecutive US Open quarterfinal when she was defeated by No. 5 Hsieh Yu.

Iga will next play Caroline Wozniacki on Wednesday, then No. 1 Angelique Kerber on Saturday.
