Help! The Hotel I Booked Online Became a Homeless Shelter and No One Told Me.

It’s been almost a month since my post about how the hotel I booked online turned out to be a homeless shelter. The story has gotten a lot of traction, but most people aren’t aware that I wrote about it. Here’s a recap.

I booked a room at the Grand Hyatt Minneapolis Downtown for April 1 – 3 with an overnight stay. I paid in cash.

I booked it online.

I paid $190 with a company called Priceline and confirmed my room after they sent an email with confirmation of my room. I didn’t pay a deposit.

I filled out the check out for the room.

I signed the receipt.

Everything was fine. I arrived and went to my room. I sat down on my bed and waited for my food. For over an hour, my room was a soup kitchen. I ate my soup.

I checked out of the hotel.

I used the hotel phone to call the front desk. They told me that I didn’t have a room and that I should check in. I hung up and walked out of the hotel.
