In his first campaign as a candidate for the July 2018 elections to the Brazilian Presidency, he positioned himself as the only candidate with the strength to lead Brazil through the massive challenge it now faces.
“I was brought up in the tradition of the Brazilian dictatorship and have experienced the real suffering that my country has endured at the hands of authoritarian leaders,” he said.
