In his first campaign as a candidate for the July 2018 elections to the Brazilian Presidency, he positioned himself as the only candidate with the strength to lead Brazil through the massive challenge it now faces.
“I was brought up in the tradition of the Brazilian dictatorship and have experienced the real suffering that my country has endured at the hands of authoritarian leaders,” he said.
“I’m the only candidate who can lead Brazil through the crisis.”
‘I’m the only one who can solve this’
Bolsonaro’s first political campaign for this job of Presidency was his successful run for Governor of Rio de Janeiro in 2010, an election campaign he used to promote his authoritarian ideology
Now, just as he was campaigning in the 2016 Brazilian elections, he was campaigning for another office; President of Brazil
The campaign he ran for this election was the harshest yet. He was attacked by political opponents and attacked by the media.
He was mocked, mocked and mocked
In 2015 he was elected to the Federal Senate with an “extraordinary victory”, and two years later he was elected Mayor of Rio de Janeiro with an “extraordinary victory”.
His opponents suggested that he had become a “dictator”, but he had the perfect argument to counter them:
“I am a leader who has a moral obligation to lead Brazil,” he told supporters. “I am
